AI-Generated Images Rules Update

As AI-generated images have increased in availability and quality, we’ve begun implementing rules for regulating how they can be shared in our communities. This page contains a full list of all rules pertaining specifically to AI-generated images (including photo-realistic images, artwork and any other visual forms).

Ferzu-Only: On Ferzu only, the posting of AI-generated images is not allowed as of December 18, 2024. This decision was made due to the unique role that artists play in the furry community, and the fact that AI image generators must rely on unethical means to source human-made artwork in order to create images.

Because this is new technological territory, these rules can and will change over time as new problems present themselves. These rules will evolve as AI itself evolves.

Please be sure to review these before posting any AI-generated images on one of our communities (except for Ferzu, where AI-generated images cannot be posted). Also, be sure to review our general Photo & Image Rules, which apply to all photos and images uploaded to our communities, including AI-generated ones.

1. All AI-Generated Images Must Be Labeled in the Caption

When uploading any images generated by AI, you must include a caption that clearly labels it as such.

Some examples of captions that would be acceptable on AI-generated images include:

  • “Wow, this character looks amazing (Generated by AI)”

  • “Inspo for the future; AI-generated”

  • “I made this with AI and I think it looks great.”

  • “Check out this AI artwork”

  • “Goals. AI-made.”

Some examples of captions that would not be acceptable on AI-generates images include:

  • “Wow this character looks amazing”

  • “Inspo for the future”

  • “I made this and I think it looks great.”

  • “Check out this artwork.”

  • “Goals.”

AI-Generated Images Cannot be Monetized

AI image generators rely on the inputs of actual human artists in order to create their derivative works without compensating them. Because of that, we only allow their use in our communities for personal enjoyment and they cannot be monetized in any way.

Spamming is Not Allowed

Because AI image generators now allow for the ability to create large numbers of images relatively cheaply and easily, we’ve seen some incidents where such images have been spammed to the photofeeds.

As a result, we are enforcing our spam policies more tightly when it comes to AI-generated images than we do other kinds of images.

To avoid violating this rule, be considerate in posting AI-generated images to our communities: Avoid posting repetitive or similar images, or multiple images of low-quality. For example, if you generated 10 images using an AI tool, select the best one to post and leave the others on the editing room floor.

Additionally, the rule of thumb for our general spam policy applies to AI-generated images: Don’t post more than one AI-generated image per day.
