Before we can let anyone organize an official GrommOff or Feabie Meet, we need to vet them as an organizer. We do that by collecting references from community members you’ve met in person, who can vouch that you are who you say you are and give us insights into your abilities as a coordinator.

In regions where there is already an official organizer, we tend to defer to that person. If that organizer is already hosting regular gatherings (at least once every two months), we’ll try to arrange for you to support them. If that organizer hasn’t hosted a gathering in a while, we’ll give them the opportunity to re-start again before vetting you as a replacement.

How does it work?

You’ll need to send us the screennames of three members you’ve met in person before. If you haven’t met three members in person, you’re likely not ready to take on the responsibility of organizing a community event just yet. We’ll contact those members and ask them the following questions to help us understand whether you’d be a good organizer.

  1. Have you met [NAME] in person? What is the nature of your relationship? (e.g. “met once”, “close friends”, etc.)

  2. How well do you think they would do at organizing a gathering? For example, setting an itinerary, being on-time, communicating clearly with people ahead of time, etc.

  3. How well do you think they would do at making everyone who attends feel welcome and not left out?

  4. Overall, do you think they’d make a good gathering organizer?

These answers will not be shared with you, however they will give us a good sense of whether you’re ready to organize a Grokio Community Gathering. If the answers are not sufficient to make us confident in your fit, we may ask for additional references or ask that you re-apply at another time down the road.

Once you’re approved as an organizer, you will be free to organize GrommOffs or Feabie Meets as you see fit and will be responsible for deciding on dates, locations and activities as well as attending the event. Failure to complete all duties associated with a Feabie Meet will result in the rescinding of your ability to organize future events permanently.

If you’d like to be a GrommOff organizer, please message the GrommOff profile and include the screennames of your three references.

If you’d like to be a Feabie Meet organizer, please fill out our Feabie Meet application form.
